The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said that no fewer than 2.8 million registered voters are expected to participate in the Nov. 8 Anambra Governorship election in the state. The Osun State Police Command on Monday confirmed the arrest of one Ismail Damilare, suspected to be a member of an unlawful group. A video of Damilare in handcuffs and leg shackles, where he admitted to being arrested with local fabricated arms had gone viral. Also, in the video, Damilare, said he was using the arms for self defence to protect himself from a rival group. The Ogun State government has told residents at the riverbank and wetland areas to prepare for overflow of the Ogun River in the next two weeks. The affected areas are, Akute, Alagbole, Isheri, Magboro,Makogi, Orimerunmu, Iro, Kajola and parts of Abeokuta specifically Lafenwa, Enugada, Adedotun, Iberekodo, Akin-Olugbade, and Ago-Odo. Gaza’s nine-day-old ceasefire came under strain Sunday after the Israeli army said it launched air strikes in the territory’s south in response to attacks it claimed were carried out by Hamas militants against its forces. The group described such claims as alarmist and unsubstantiated, warning that they could inflame tensions and deepen mistrust among religious communities.
