As the world marked International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, Springfield Private School/Bosede Idehen International Academy took a unique approach to honor the invaluable role of women in society. The institution, which operates under a blended American and Nigerian curriculum, organized a special event to celebrate and recognize the contributions of women, particularly mothers and educators, in shaping future generations.

The theme for this year’s event, “Empowered Mothers, Inspired Generations,” set the tone for a day of appreciation, enlightenment, and empowerment. The school’s director, Mrs. Idehen Ovabor, emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating the efforts of women in nurturing and educating the younger generation. She stated that women’s roles in society “cannot be underestimated, and there is a need to encourage positive change by supporting and empowering them.”

The keynote speaker for the event, Mrs. Funmilayo Regina Adeegbe, CEO of TF Fashion Empire Limited, delivered a thought-provoking address on the importance of women in society and the necessity of self-empowerment. She highlighted the power of educated and financially independent women, the challenges they must overcome, and the significance of prioritizing their health and well-being.

In a practical demonstration of empowerment, Mrs. Adeegbe conducted a hands-on skills training session where participants learned how to make liquid soap and disinfectants. She explained that such skills could provide financial support for families and serve as a means of economic empowerment for women, especially those seeking additional income streams.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of parents and teachers, who actively participated in the celebration. Dr. Akeju, the school’s principal, commended the initiative, describing it as “a commendable effort to honor the uniqueness and contributions of women in society.”

A touching moment during the event occurred when one of the parents stood up to express deep appreciation for the school’s director, Mrs. Idehen Ovabor, acknowledging her vision and commitment to celebrating and empowering women.

The celebration at Springfield Private School/Bosede Idehen International Academy not only recognized the strength and resilience of women but also provided them with valuable knowledge and practical skills, reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic education and societal impact.
