A Lagos State Chief Magistrate Court in Samuel Ilori Court House in Ogba has ordered the remand in prison custody of Akande Omogbemi and Abubakar Mayaki who were part of the suspected killers of a local government staffer, Kazeem Idowu Keshinro.

The Nigeria Police had at last adjourned date docked four suspects Mukaila Salawu known as  Actor, Tiyamiyu Ahmed, Wasiu Suleimon, and Ibrahim Ekemode before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi relating to the murder while declaring Omogbemi and Mayaki as at large.

Appearing before the Magistrates today, the prosecuting counsel Mrs Abiola Adeoye  informed the court of the development and prayed for their remand order pending issuance of legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

However, the defendants counsel, Bright Uleyo opposed the remand order application arguing that there is no material fact before the court to grant such applications.

In his ruling, Magistrate Lateef Owolabi granted the request and ordered that the suspect should be remanded in Kirikiri prison for thirty days for issuance of DPP Legal Advice.

The matter was subsequently adjourned till October 10 for mention.

According to the charges filed by the Police, the suspects on the 1st April 2024 at about 0900hrs at Otta Ikosi Agbowa in the Lagos Magisterial district did conspire amongst themselves to commit Robbery and thereby committed an offence Contrary to Section 299 of the Criminal Laws Cap. Ch.Vol.3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

In the second charge, they were alleged to have unlawfully killed Idowu Keshinro (m) and thereby committed an offence Contrary to Section 233 of the Criminal Laws Cap. Ch.Vol.3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

It would be recalled that Kazeem Idowu, who was also described as a hunter and staffer of Ikosi-Ejirin local government, had in a chilling video where he could be seen soaking in his pool of blood and his body riddled with bullets, recounted how he went on hunting activities in the Ota area of Ikorodu, Lagos State when he was suddenly ambushed, attacked, shot severally and machete on the orders of one Mukaila Salau aka Actor, a notorious land grabber who was physically present at the scene.
