A group of Professionals in the Southwest Nigeria, have described the Minister of State for Defense, Honorable Muhammed Bello Matawalle, as a Patriot, that is committed to the peace and Unity of Nigeria. In a statement issued.in Lagos today, and signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Group, Dr. Ebenezer Olawole, the group said its reaction is coming, in light of recent comments made by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, where he criticized a statement by some members of the Northern Elders Forum, who claimed that the Northern Nigeria, regrets its support, for the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential election. The Yoruba Young Professionals in the statement, expressed its full support for Matawalle, for his courageous stance and commend his unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.

The group said, “Hon. Bello Matawalle, a distinguished pan-Nigerian politician and patriot, has long been recognized for his dedication to the ideals of national unity and cohesion. His tenure as a former governor of Zamfara State and his current role as Minister of State for Defence exemplify his tireless efforts towards fostering peace and stability across the country.”

“The Yoruba Young Professionals Group endorses Minister Matawalle’s position that the election of President Bola Tinubu in 2023 was a decision made by the generality of Nigerians, reflecting their collective will and aspirations. We firmly believe that the power to elect leaders resides with the people, and they have the prerogative to reelect President Tinubu or any other candidate of their choice in future elections.”

“Furthermore, we urge the Northern Elders Forum to refrain from statements that could potentially inflame tensions and destabilize our beloved nation. It is imperative that all stakeholders prioritize national interest above individual or sectional interests, and work together towards building a stronger, more united Nigeria.”

The group further said Minister Bello Matawalle’s exemplary leadership serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for politicians across party lines. “We call on other political leaders to emulate his statesmanship, commitment to national unity, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of all Nigerians.”

“As a nation, we must strive towards dialogue, understanding, and cooperation to address our common challenges and build a brighter future for generations to come, not by promoting actions that seek to divide us more than uniting us. Hon. Bello Matawalle is a shining example, of our desire for a United Nigeria, and as Yoruba Young Professionals, we are proud of him.” the statement concluded
