A frontline politician in Ogun State, Hon. Akeem Akintayo Amosun, (FCIB, FCS, MBA), says he has supported nothing less than fifteen thousand citizens throughout the year 2020 given the country’s economic challenges. He charged Nigerians, especially those in the position of authorities to be steadfast in their nation-building assignment.

Amosun made this statement in his New Year message released to journalists in Abeokuta during the week.

Explaining the rationale behind his support for the people, he noted that the effort was aimed at ameliorating the challenges of the pandemic-induced poverty on the people whose sources of livelihood were largely affected by the first phase of lockdown.

The stockbroker turn politician stated that residents of Abeokuta South across the fifteen wards benefited from his various programmes.

Amosun further noted that acts of selflessness is critical to the healing of the country at this material time, adding patriotism is synonymous with nation-building in the face of obvious economic and security woes.

Dubbed White Lion, the Abeokuta South politician stated that Nigerians must outgrow infantile differences to rebuild trust and rekindle the hope of a better country in the coming years.

He enjoined leaders across various levels of government to imbibe the culture of transparency and accountability in public service, noting that such an example will inspire new hope and endear those in positions of authority to the led.

Amosun equally admonished citizens to support the government’s noble efforts to ensure the security of lives and properties. “As we may all know, we are still very much in the middle of a pandemic and the support of the people is central to winning the fights against coronavirus and other security threats.

“Certainly, we can not afford another lockdown as the implications of the first we had have brought us inflation in prices of commodities as well as recession among other risks. So by this, leadership at various levels must also come clean and ensure they deliver their duties to the best of their abilities.” He concluded.

The statement shows that beneficiaries of the year’s outreach across various projects which include: Widows Support Programme for over 1000, COVID-19 Palliatives for 6000, Resettlement Package for flood victims as well as Festivities Support, among many others.

Amosun, therefore, wishes residents of Abeokuta South and citizens of the country at home and abroad a very blessed and prosperous Year 2021.
