The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in Lagos State, Tokunbo Wahab, today hosted the Lagos State Police High Command, led by Commissioner of Police, CP Olorundare Moshood Jimoh, for a courtesy visit at his office.

During the meeting, both parties engaged in productive discussions focused on fostering a strategic collaboration between the Lagos State Police Force and the Ministry of Environment & Water Resources. The goal is to enhance environmental enforcement, tackle infractions, and ensure better compliance with sanitation laws across the state.

The discussions centered on the urgent need for a cleaner and safer Lagos, emphasizing that the responsibility of achieving this goal falls on the collective efforts of both government agencies and the public. The partnership aims to bolster the enforcement of environmental regulations, tackle sanitation issues, and ensure adherence to the state’s laws that protect the environment and improve public health.

Commissioner Wahab reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring a cleaner, healthier, and safer Lagos, with full support from law enforcement agencies. He expressed that the collaboration will help address challenges related to environmental degradation, pollution, waste management, and other concerns that threaten public health and the well-being of the citizens.

“We are committed to enforcing regulations that protect our environment and improve public health. This collaboration with the Lagos State Police Force will go a long way in ensuring that environmental laws are followed and that anyone who violates these laws is held accountable,” Commissioner Wahab stated.

CP Olorundare Moshood Jimoh commended the Ministry’s efforts and emphasized the importance of law enforcement in tackling environmental issues. He pledged the full support of the Lagos State Police Force in the implementation of environmental laws and promised to work closely with the Ministry in maintaining a clean and safe environment for the residents of Lagos.

The Ministry and the Lagos State Police Force agreed to continue working together to ensure the success of this strategic partnership, which will include increased patrols, surveillance, and a more robust response to environmental violations.
