The Special Assistant on New Media to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola CON FCA YAYI organized a one day retreat and seminar designed to enhance strategic engagement and maximize social media impact.

The seminar cum retreat was specially designed for member of the Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi’s New Media Team.


The well attended interactive event held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro, themed “Maximizing unprecedented performance for positive social media visibility  has Public Relations expert, Prince Femi Dokunmu as the lead speaker.


The members of New Media team who are social influencers across Ogun state, at the seminar session were taken through Etiquettes of social media engagement for responsible visibility by Prince Femi Dokunmu, Selling a political brand in the 21st century – using the new media advantage, by Mr. Gbenga Oyebanji a seasoned media practitioner and other topics by Omooba Damilare Oloyede, the Special Assistant to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi on New Media.


In his paper, Prince Femi Dokunmu charged Yayi New Media Team members to engage in debates or dialectics cleverly, responsibly, intelligently, responsively and professionally.

Prince Dokunmu stressed the need to research, find out, get briefs right and have full or sufficient information before writing, to avoid the embarrassment that comes with goofing.


Mr Gbenga Oyebanji while speaking on the topic, selling a political brand in the 21st century – using the new media advantage, cited the victory of the former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama which he attributed to the extensive use of the social media to attract the votes of young Americans in his campaign effort.

Mr. Oyebanji pointed out that modern day warfare is informational, it is  fought more on the social media which underlines the need for modern day politicians to deploy the new media as an important tool in canvassing for votes as they pursue electoral victories.


Also speaking.was Mr Kayode Taiwo, who is also a seasoned broadcaster, he enjoined the team to focus more on the positive information on the personality and the activities of Senator Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi which he quantified as inexhaustible.


The seminar session was followed by an engaging retreat where attendees had the opportunity connect,  raise issues, appraise actions and feed forward into the aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi in 2027 as it relates to the team’s role.
