In line with the ongoing commitment to a cleaner and more organized Lagos, the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) (@LAGESCOfficial) alongside the team from the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) under the supervisory Commissioner for Environment, Barrister Tokunbo Wahab, today launched a clearance operation targeting the Idumota-Ebutte Ero and Elegbata axis.

The operation focused on removing illegal shanties and structures that had been unlawfully built under bridges and along the road median, disrupting the flow of traffic and creating environmental hazards. This is part of a broader effort by the Lagos State Government to ensure that public spaces are not only clean but safe for all citizens.

Barrister Wahab, the supervisory commissioner, reiterated his commitment to the vision of a cleaner, safer, and more orderly Lagos. Speaking on the operation, Wahab stated, “Zero tolerance for illegal structures is a priority under my leadership. We are taking necessary steps to remove all forms of environmental nuisance and restore the aesthetics and functionality of our city.”

The coordinated effort between KAI and LAWMA is a direct response to ongoing concerns about illegal encroachments in public spaces, which have hindered proper sanitation and created both environmental and security challenges. The operation today is just one in a series of actions aimed at ensuring the streets of Lagos are free from illegal settlements and kept in pristine condition.

Residents and business owners in the area have been urged to adhere to proper waste disposal practices and avoid illegal constructions in order to support the government’s efforts in creating a more sustainable and pleasant city environment.

As Lagos continues to grow, the leadership remains committed to maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and safety across the state for the benefit of all.
