NAF Air Strikes Neutralize Bandit Leaders’ Key Loyalists In Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced on Sunday that its fighter aircraft have successfully neutralized several bandits, including key loyalists of notorious bandit leaders Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule, in Zamfara State.

This operation is part of the NAF’s ongoing air interdiction campaign, Operation Farautar Mujiya, aimed at eliminating the growing bandit threat in Northwestern Nigeria.

According to the NAF, the airstrike mission on November 15, 2024, targeted a large gathering of bandits in Babban Kauye village, located in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Intelligence reports indicated that the bandits were planning coordinated attacks on military personnel and civilians along the Tsafe axis.

Acting on credible intelligence, the NAF launched a series of devastating airstrikes, resulting in significant casualties among the criminal groups.

Reports from the ground confirmed the successful elimination of numerous high-ranking bandit members, severely weakening their operational capabilities.

Tsafe Local Government Area has long been a hotspot for banditry, with factions loyal to Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule infamous for carrying out violent assaults on local communities, security forces, and vital infrastructure.

These groups have often used remote settlements like Babban Kauye as safe havens to plan and execute their criminal activities.

The latest airstrikes demonstrate a strong response and support for the Theatre Command of Operation Fansan Yamma, aligning with broader efforts to dismantle and degrade the bandit networks in the region, disrupt their planned attacks, and ultimately restore peace and stability to the embattled Northwest.

Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, affirmed, “The NAF remains committed to its mission, collaborating with sister services and other security agencies to secure the region and the nation as a whole. We are determined to eliminate the threats posed by terrorists, bandits, and all other criminal elements undermining the peace and prosperity of our beloved country.”
