The Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association, NATCA, is set to hold its Annual General Meeting, AGM, in Kano State on the 27th and 28th November, 2024, in which it would hold its Association’s Election for New Executives to take over the saddle.

Prince Fapohunda Babatunde Adeniyi has however throw in his hat in the ring to jostle for the position of the National Publicity Secretary of the Association.

Fapohunda, has been an Air Traffic Controller for close to Two decades, and frowns at the neglect Air Traffic Controllers has faced over the years in terms of Publicity.

In changing the narratives, Fapohunda said the passion, flair and love exhibited by Air Traffic Controllers needs to be publicized for the Public to know what they do and how they have been doing over 43 Years in ensuring safety in the nation’s Airspace.

He said that there was need for activities of the Air Traffic Controllers to be showcased, and how it has over the years hold the ace in the Aviation sector.

It has also been the brain and as also worked tirelessly in ensuring that Safety is achieved at all times.

“As Air Traffic Controllers, we work round the clock, we don’t have holidays. If we fail to speak up and let people know how important and sacrosanct we are to the Aviation Sector, we are doing ourselves no good.

“This is the more reason I want to become the National Publicity Secretary for our members to have a sense of belonging by speaking up and to be known by all”.

He however said he plans to engage the Media in showcasing the activities of NATCA.

“During our AGM’s, there is no wide media coverage, this makes us relatively unknown, but this will be revived,  as there will be full media presence during our activities”, he said.

Fapohunda whose mantra is ‘One Mic, One Voice, One Sky’, said that this is to show that NATCA is one big family that adds immense value to the Aviation Sector, irrespective of Creed, Religion and Language.

It would be recalled that during the regime of past President Shehu Shagari, he attested to the importance of the Air Traffic Controllers, and how they are pivotal to the safety of aircrafts and lives in general.

He urged the Air Traffic Controllers to remain steadfast, and promising not to rest on the oars of his predecessor, but to further leverage and improve the fortunes of NATCA in terms of Publicity.
