Some gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a truck driver, Tobi Oluwatuyi, along the Akure-Owo Expressway at Ilu Abo in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, was said to have caused panic in the community where the incident happened.

It was gathered that the bandits abducted the victim while he was fixing the faulty truck along the road.

An observer at the scene of the incident said the armed men came out from the bush and whisked him away, adding that the second man with the victim was said to have managed to escape.

While speaking, the owner of the tipper, Mr Monday Ayesoro, confirmed the incident and said the matter had been reported to the security agencies.

The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, also confirmed the abduction said operatives of the corps had begun an intensive bush combing operation to rescue the victim.

Adeleye declared that the corps was determined to rescue the victim unhurt.

“We are already combing the forest and have blocked the routes leading to Ise in Ekiti State to prevent the kidnappers from escaping. We are on top of the situation and determined to secure the victim’s release, “ he stated .
