In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr Yunusa Tanko, the movement said Sego “threatened to kill anyone who refuses to vote for the ruling APC during the 2027 general elections in Lagos.”
The statement described the comments as a “dangerous precursor” to the 2027 polls and part of a wider pattern of thuggery and political violence linked to the NURTW.
The Obidient Movement recalled the violence of the 2023 elections in Lagos, saying suspected NURTW members and other thugs attacked voters, particularly supporters of Peter Obi and the Labour Party, resulting in killings and serious injuries.
The statement accused the NURTW of long-standing involvement in murder, extortion, political violence and the use of its structures as a thuggery arm for corrupt politicians.
The group stressed that these threats and acts of violence are nothing but desperate attempts engineered by the APC, noting that the ruling party has neither the voting strength nor the popular support to win free and fair elections in Lagos or across the country, having failed to deliver good governance since coming to power through what it described as a questionable mandate in 2023.
The group also referenced a recent incident in which a prominent union leader, allegedly already facing a murder case, was filmed severely beating a dispatch rider who later died.
The movement said such episodes reinforce concerns that those responsible for electoral violence have not been held to account.
The statement criticised security agencies for what it described as a failure to pursue arrests, prosecution and penalisation despite extensive video evidence from previous incidents.
The Obidient Movement called on Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the military and other security agencies to “immediately effect the arrest, detention and prosecution” of Sego and others implicated in threats, murder and politically motivated criminal acts.
“We are also putting the international community on notice of these crimes against humanity and threats to peace in Nigeria,” the statement warned.
The group added that continued inaction could push citizens toward organising for self-defence, a development it said would amount to an invitation to anarchy.
While urging members and Nigerians to remain calm and report incidents to law enforcement, the Obidient Movement demanded “zero tolerance” for rigging, manipulation or political violence in the 2027 elections.
The group also called on patriotic Nigerians and the global community to help ensure a free, fair and peaceful vote.
