Suspected Homosexual Escapes Lynch In Ogun

ABEOKUTA – Angry Mob on Saturday lynched a suspected bisexual identified as Abayomi Owolabi around Ita Elelga, Bode Olude, area of Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

Recall that President Goodluck Jonathan, in 2014, signed a bill, criminalizing same-sex relationships.

The bill, which contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison was passed by the national assembly last May.

The man in his twenties was beaten by a mob who caught him kissing his bisexual partner simply known as Deola at his residence.

A member of the angry Mob told newsmen that they have been suspecting their strange friendship and movements for months.

“That one call Deola will be doing like a girl, walking like a girl, wallahi if not for their family that rescued them, we will kill them, what is the meaning of that? Man and Man, kissing and touching themselves? That is alien to our culture. If we don’t take proactive step, they will be bad influence over other kids in the community.

“If we still catch them, we will continue to beat them again, if not for their mother who gave us money before we stopped beating them”

The mob leader who introduced himself as Kazeem, said they considered reporting them to the police but believe they may be released if they bribe the police.

Efforts to get the two suspects proved abortive as family members refused to speak with newsmen, while also claiming that both partners are out of the state.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi said the police command has not received any official complaint from the family nor the residents.
